Geothermal systems or Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP) use the earth as a
heat source to provide heating, cooling and hot water for homes. A GSHP system can be installed in a residential structure of any size, anywhere, whether it is single-family or multi-family. GSHPs can be installed on almost any size lot: under lawns, landscaped areas, driveways, or the house itself. An existing house can be retrofitted with a GSHP using the ductwork that is already there. The Pipe Doctor will be able to determine ductwork requirements and if any minor modifications are needed. Home builders and homeowners can both take advantage of special financing that is offered by the Pipe Doctor. There are many advantages
of Geothermal Systems. - Efficiency - Geothermal systems are up to four times as efficient
as the most efficient fossil fuel furnace. Instead of burning a combustible fuel to make heat, they simply move heat that
already exists.
- Cost Savings - Geothermal systems not only cut your heating and cooling costs, they often provide hot water at substantial
savings.
- Durability - Geothermal systems last longer than conventional systems because they are protected from harsh outdoor
weather. The unit is housed entirely indoors.
- Conservation - Geothermal systems work with the
environment by absorbing renewable, non-polluting solar thermal energy stored in the earth and groundwater, and using that
energy to heat and cool your home.
- Low Maintenance - Geothermal systems have fewer mechanical components,
making them more reliable and less prone to failure. The ground loop has an expected life of over 50 years and requires no
maintenance.
- Tax Liability - Geothermal systems installed by Long Island's Pipe Doctor Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning are eligible for a 30% federal tax credit of the installed investment. Additionally, most systems qualify for New York State Energy Tax Credit.
